POLICE have released an image of a man they believe could assist them with their inquiries about two indecent assaults.

Fears have surfaced that a serial offender may be in Altona, following two reports of indecent assaults with the offenders described as having very similar features.

Last week, a 32-year-old woman from the Kingsville area alleged she was indecently assaulted by a male at the end of May. She said the incident occurred about 5.45pm on the walking track at Cherry Lake, Altona.

The offender asked the victim for a kiss and when she refused, the offender reached out and grabbed the woman on the breast and buttocks. When she threatened to call the police, he ran away.

On 28 June at 8.35pm, a 17-year-old girl was walking along Railway St North near Davies St in Altona when she was approached by a male driving a white sports car. The man allegedly indecently assaulted her, grabbing her breast and attempting to kiss her. The victim pushed him away and the man ran towards his car and drove off.

Both victims described the man as of Indian or sub-continental appearance, aged between 20 and 30, medium to tall height, medium build, wearing a white hooded jumper and dark pants.

Contact Senior Detective Mick Drew from Altona North Criminal Investigation Unit with information on 9392 3111.
