Gembrook’s Connell Jacobson is over the moon with his selection in the V-Line 2010 team.

HARD tackling and second efforts has earned Gembrook’s Connell Jacobson a spot among the elite.

He, along with 24 other players and six umpires, were selected from a pool of 500 in the 2010 V/Line Cup team on Tuesday 6 July.

“Yeah, it’s pretty cool to be selected,” Jacobson said.

“I didn’t expect to be picked, so I’m happy with that.”

The V/Line Cup is a tournament played in Melbourne over three days in a round-robin style across four divisions, organised by the Victorian Country Football League.

Gembrook-Cockatoo coach Andrew Walsh said his hard-nosed approach to football was probably what earned him a spot on the team.

“It’s a fantastic achievement and he was consistent throughout all three games during the carnival,” he said, adding it’s only Connell’s fourth year of playing football.

“He really stepped up and went hard at the contest in wet conditions.”

Connell was awarded two best on ground awards as well as a sixth best.
